Forêt de bambou dense éclairée par la lumière du jour

The world of bamboo

A giant grass that regrows in a hundred days.

For over twenty years, ootouch has been searching for alternatives that share the qualities of wood without contributing to deforestation. Bamboo is that material.

Our conviction

Save the planet, think ootouch.

We have been innovating for over twenty years to rethink flooring and make materials more sustainable. ootouch is a pioneer in the search for alternative solutions that share the qualities of wood while fighting deforestation.

Thanks to bamboo and its extraordinary properties, our range helps preserve ecosystems that are essential to the planet's health. By choosing responsible materials, you take part in the world of tomorrow.

What makes bamboo different

Four verifiable reasons.

01

A naturally eco-friendly raw material

Bamboo is a grass, not a tree. It is harvested without ever being uprooted.

  • It reaches maturity in 5 years, where an oak needs several decades.
  • It regrows on its own within 100 days of cutting, avoiding any deforestation.
  • It absorbs CO2 on average 30 times faster than wood.
02

Low energy use

Processing bamboo requires far fewer resources than traditional wood.

  • Its production uses 2.7 times less electricity than that of oak.
  • Growing 1 m² of bamboo requires only 15 litres of water.
  • A bath uses 130 to 150 litres: one bath equals 10 m² of flooring.
03

Zero-waste production

The stalk is used in its entirety, from the core to the offcuts.

  • Most of the stalk directly becomes one of our products.
  • Offcuts are recycled by our factories and reused as an energy source.
  • Colouring is achieved naturally, with no added pigment.
04

Sober transport

Bamboo grows in Asia: we take responsibility for shipping it, choosing the least polluting route.

  • Sea freight is one of the least greenhouse-gas-emitting modes of transport.
  • Shipping 1 m² of bamboo from China to Europe equals 1.2 km by car.

From field to floor

A material that stands the test of time.

Harvested at maturity, the canes are split, laminated and then pressed at high density. This process produces flooring, decking and panels that keep the qualities of wood while surpassing it in hardness and stability.

Harder than wood

Bamboo density exceeds that of traditional species. Our solid references offer up to 5 mm of wear layer.

Very stable

Compatible with underfloor heating and various installation methods, throughout the house, including wet rooms.

Up to 30-year warranty*

30 years for flooring, 25 years for solid decking and 10 years for composite decking. See conditions and technical data sheets.

Fairly priced

Choosing a responsible material shouldn’t cost the earth: our products remain competitively priced.
